Finding a shared way forward across 14 organizations
Participatory strategy and ecosystem collaboration | Columbus, Ohio
Working with the Columbus Foundation, I designed a multi-year process that brought leaders from 14 education and youth-serving organizations together to explore a more learner-centered future and identify where their different priorities, resources, and efforts could connect.
During the first two-day convening, leaders developed six shared aspirations for learners, explored how those aspirations held up across different future scenarios, and mapped the assets, relationships, and opportunities for collaboration across their organizations.
My role: Designing the multi-year engagement architecture and first two convenings, developing the foresight and ecosystem-mapping activities, and leading the initial convening.
See the Columbus Foundation's story about the initiative →
The result: Six shared aspirations and a clearer understanding of what the organizations wanted to accomplish and what each could contribute, providing a foundation for continued collaboration.
Participatory foresight and strategic direction | KnowledgeWorks
Across multi-year initiatives in Ohio, Nevada, and Arizona I designed and led participatory foresight work spanning more than 100 school systems and engaging over 2,400 people.
The work brought educators, young people, community members, public leaders, and organizational partners together to explore how education was changing and use possible futures to inform local and system-level strategy.
The result: Depending on the initiative, the work informed locally adapted pilots, Portraits of a Graduate, and sustainability planning, while helping participants develop the capacity to continue using futures thinking beyond the original engagements.
My role: I developed foresight tools, facilitated strategic exploration, and helped participating teams connect what they were learning about possible futures to decisions they could make locally.
Helping education systems imagine and shape what's next
Making young people authors of education's future
Youth Futures Fellowship | Nevada
Young people are regularly asked what they think about education's future, but they're much less often given the opportunity to influence the conversations about it.
I co-designed and led a Youth Futures Fellowship that supported young people in exploring possible futures, developing their perspectives, and bringing those ideas into conversations with adults working to shape education.
The result: Two youth-led intergenerational workshops where young people designed and led conversations about possible futures for education alongside adult partners.
My role: Co-designing the fellowship, supporting youth leadership, and developing and facilitating opportunities for intergenerational collaboration.
