Hi, I'm Anna.
I love a challenge. So much so that I've made a career out of trying to solve the messiest, most complex ones. Along the way, I learned I can't do it alone. So now I get people in on the action.
I'm Anna Russo, a futurist and participatory strategy practitioner based in Philadelphia.
Before starting Mitga, I was Director of Community Futures at KnowledgeWorks, where I designed and led participatory, future-focused initiatives involving state agencies, foundations, school systems, and community partners.
I started my career as a classroom teacher and have since worked across education, organizational initiatives, and collaborative strategy. That experience taught me a lot about what it takes to move from a good idea to something people can actually put into practice, particularly when the work involves different perspectives, competing priorities, and people who don't all answer to the same person.
I’ve come to see the differences in what people know, who they’re connected to, and what they can do as part of what makes new responses possible, rather than simply as complexity to manage.
I hold an M.S. in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Ed. from Christian Brothers University, with additional training in strategic foresight, Design Futures, service design, social innovation design, and LEGO® Serious Play®.
I take the process seriously, but I don't assume the answer belongs to me.
